Ship ReDesign

While the team enjoyed the look of the color palette, many testers had a hard time to determine that our ship was indeed a spaceship. With a redesign coming about, a change was made to make the ship look more like a typical spaceship, something that the player could identify easily and understand on a first glance

We ended up going with a dome design that was complemented with an outer rim and lower thruster. We wanted to still have elements of outer and inner sections, but wanted to put a higher focus on the inside portion. The inside is where the player would naturally want to spend the most time swinging around, so we wanted to make sure they were drawn to it.

The inner section was designed with multiple levels in mind. With the change from first to third person, we wanted to offer many reasons for the player to swing around the environment. However, if the player was not comfortable with their skill in the mechanic, ramps were installed around the side so the whole area could be explored. The whole level could be accessed through simple movement and jumping, but the spokes in the middle allow the player to easily cross over to the other side and make full use of the grapple hook.
